Huh?
Sometimes we shake our heads. And this time, well, we are shaking our heads again.
There is a guy named GEORGE DAVIS who runs the dead Pleasure Island Commission. Here is what AI says about him: “George Pleasure Island” likely refers to the revitalization efforts led by George Davis on Pleasure Island in Port Arthur, TX, transforming it from an industrial spot to a family/birding destination with new playgrounds, bird blinds, and improved facilities, though Pleasure Island also has links to Disney’s Pinocchio (a cursed island) and a closed UK theme park. The Port Arthur island, created from dredge spoils, is now a hub for industry, recreation (fishing, boating), and nature, with initiatives aiming to boost its appeal.
Really, if you want to know, Pleasure Island is nothing but a wasteland of scum from the bottom of the ocean. And it offers a closed and collapsed into the ocean Golf Course, a section of beach homes, roads that are falling apart, the island itself is falling into the water, a marina that was built after one of the storms, but boom, nobody docks there, and drugs? Oh yes, more people are smoking pot on the island than maybe the entire city. It is crime-ridden and an excuse to steal from the Taxpayers.
That is why we got a little shook up when we got this picture:

What is that, you ask? Well, that is King George’s new ride on the island? Yes, the chairman of the Pleasure Island Commission got a new ride. And the commission paid for it! It is a $40,000 side-by-side. You know, so if you are kind, you can get around.
The fun part about this is that it is NOT street legal, according to Port Arthur PD (who were busy with a double shooting last night on 9th street). No, we are not kidding. You have a city official who spent well over $40k on a side-by-side to tool around the island in an illegal buggy!
Once again, you cannot make this up. Talk about a rip-off of tax dollars!
Now George is running around telling everyone that he needs to have something to take investors around to show them the island! No, we are not kidding. That is real. That is what he is saying to everyone.
And the city council? NOT A PEEP.
Like we keep saying, these EDCs are nothing but a feed center for corrupt politicos. Citizens have had enough. They still cannot flush toilets, not flood, and have safe roads. But be damned, we can have a fine ride to? Well, who really knows? Right?
God, we wish there were some educated people in Port Arthur. Maybe we can call a meeting at Kelly’s Kitchen? You know, the closed restaurant that closed right after the checks started to flow in the climate change in the Obama and Biden administrations?
Once again, taxpayers, you were stolen from! Watch out for that sinking boat in the marina down there!!!
Republican Corruption?
Well, we told you a year ago that the Jefferson County Republican Party is in crisis. And laugh if you may, but this is a crisis.
Jefferson County Republican Chairman Joe Evans is getting ready to sign a document stating that he is running for a judgeship. And that is a good thing! If we lived in the area, we would vote for him. But he is wrong and is getting wrong advice.
Now what are we talking about? It is called “Resign To Run.”
When you are chairman, and you file to run for ANOTHER OFFICE IN A PRIMARY, you cannot continue being chairman. EVEN IF NOBODY OTHER FILES. Why? There is a thing called a write-in vote. THE LAW IS SPECIFIC!
Well, screw you people.
The Review has learned that there is a group of Republican women who are trying to tell the current chairman he can stay through the primary. That may be correct, but is it fair to the rest of the slate?
We called up to the Texas GOP office, and they were shocked to hear that a sitting county chairman is going to try and run a primary if he is also running for a seat.
“That is not a good thing. In fact, it is not ethical. But is there a law that says he cannot run? No. Is it the right thing to do for all candidates? No. Can he possibly run a primary and be a candidate on the same slate? No.” – So says the State GOP.
But let’s dig deeper. Why in the hell would the party chairman want to stay on? Is it political? Does he care what it looks like to the voters? No. What in the hell is going on?
One local Pct. chair who is upset told us: “The damn ladies from over at the GOP women are trying to run their own candidate for County Chair. They are working behind the curtain and somehow have convinced Joe to stay there. He needs to be out doing his signs, his marketing, his race rather than overseeing the entire county? What is he thinking?” Said our source.
So here is Joe’s dilemma. If they want to play hard, okay, go do it. That is called politics. But if he wants to do good for the entire party, resign. Put in a temporary chairman. Then let everyone fight it out.
God help the GOP they are looking like the Jefferson County Democratic Party. And that is corruption.
A Message to The Citizens Of Beaumont
We here at the Review sometimes shake our heads. They allow some really bad stories. And this is another example this week in the City of Beaumont, which is the same thing that happened in Port Arthur!
FLASHBACK: The City of Port Arthur’s fire department union went into a fight in the early 2000’s when pay, back pay, hours worked, and benefits got into a huge fight. In the end, cooler heads prevailed after both sides made a mockery of the Union v. Taxpayers. Lawsuits were filed, angry exchanges, and in the end, nobody got what they wanted, and it hurt the Port Arthur Fire Department, as nobody wanted to come to work at the department, which was in turmoil, and most of the department wanted their chief’s head on a platter.
Welcome back? Does this sound familiar?
It was found out later that there were inside dealings between some long-time employees, the city, the city manager, and a suggestion of payola. Once the payola situation came out, everything settled. For the 99% of the great employees over at Port Arthur Fire, they were left demoralized. And then the merry-go-round of chiefs began.
Now, the city of Beaumont Fire Union is doing the same thing that the Port Arthur Fire Union is doing, but a little colder. They raised a lot of money to get their candidates into office. They invested in Joey Hillard, Mike Williams, and Corey Crenshaw – all of whom issued statements that they wanted the fire chief gone. As well, the assistant fire chief gone.
They have already lost as many on the council, being three sitting elected officials, and the mayor has shit on their backdoor plan. In fact, that plan is now dead, and they all have egg on their face after it was discovered that their plan to introduce a motion to remove the fire chief. There only a dumb ass problem? That is against the city charter. And it is a huge violation problem that could put them in the courthouse. And the union boys? Oh, they are just sitting there giggling and using the three as their pawns. You see, according to our sources in the Union, they are playing the long game, and they are playing the three who got their seats.
“Crenshaw is the smartest of the three. The other two will do and say anything we tell them to,” so says our source at the Fire Department. “We own them,” they went on to say.
And they are right. These three, maybe less Crenshaw, are political novices. And they are, at best, politically silly and stupid. They are violating their own city ordinance, and they don’t even know it.
So, late yesterday they tried to clean it up a little, saying they have the 1st amendment right to express their opinion. Okay, yes, they do. But they do not have the right to introduce anything that gets in between their city manager and his employees.
Like we have said here, being a city council person comes down to three important meetings and votes. (1) Any union contract with their employees, (2) the final budget meeting for the fiscal year, and (3) any crisis meeting for issues in their city. Other than that, they are all one-vote chumps. Meaning, they have ZERO POWER. They are figureheads.
The media has fluffed this up to be a war. But it is an internal war. That war is one thing and one thing only, as they hired the city manager, they live with the city manager and his policies and who he hires. END OF STORY.
We warned all of you about hiring Williams and Hillard. Take these two guys out of the mix, and Crenshaw will be and do what he is best at—being a lawyer. And that is being very careful, which is a trait that Crenshaw has.
In the end, nothing got done again. The Fire Union needs to take a good, hard look at itself. Over 85% of the Union Members don’t like the fire chief. They say he came up with an overtime plan that made 15% of the members rich. In fact, we are asking who makes the money at the fire department right now, and we are going to post it. They don’t like EMS, but they own it now. And most of the members are great men and women, but they are sheep. They need to stop being sheep, and the only way that can happen is to remove the leaders of the fire union and see if that calms things down a little. Radical is good sometimes, and diplomacy is better most of the time. Make a call or do research on the Port Arthur Fire Union, and see how they handled it. They have it going on now and are keeping under the radar, as they learned their lesson in a bankrupt city.
As for the city manager, well, we have been clear about that. He has to go. This last round of downtown, and this nut job consulting company that killed the bond (other than streets), have the citizens, being black, white, brown, Mexican, Chinese, and any other race you want to put in there, PISSED OFF. He has to go. But he won’t because there are not enough votes to get it done. So they live with what they hired.
As for the media. They are GAGA. These teenagers have no idea how to report a story to the public in 3 minutes. News directors have not allowed anyone to take the lead on hard news. They put AJS on mornings, selling cakes? Good God. And is the Enterprise Open? The only newspaper is the Examiner, which really does the job. Nobody is REALLY TELLING THE STORY of how two sitting city council members got compromised by a Union that has an agenda. They want complete control over where they work. Now ask yourself, who do you work for, and would they allow you to dictate their jobs?
The Fire Service has a suck ass job. Death, destruction, hurt, then put a happy face on and go to school and show the fire truck.
Then insult to injury, the media reports that 364 applications were submitted and only around 164 people showed up to test? Why? NOBODY WANTS TO GET IN THAT MESS THAT THE UNION AND CITY HAVE CREATED.
Now, what is left? How about this before Beaumont turns into Port Arthur? Shut up. Union guys, go to work, make your $100,000 a year in cash and benefits, don’t work too much overtime, accept EMS as part of the fire service (yes, safer built homes and buildings are working), and make your city proud. You have a hell of a job, and it sucks some days. But don’t make it suck more than it should. Why did your new fire station get voted down? Think about that.
And the city council. WAKE THE HELL UP PLEASE. You own the UNION NOTHING. Reach down, see if you have a set, and fix your city. Stop playing politics with special interests. You are talking about men who have dedicated their lives to helping others. WAKE THE HELL UP PLEASE!
You, the citizens of Beaumont. You may want to start getting newer candidates to run this council. They are not doing the right thing. They are being run by people who paid their campaign fees and costs (payola). Then they vote how they are told. Make it stop. You can do that. Get it done or say goodbye to your city as you know it (hint, it is already slipping through your fingers, and we don’t think you can stop it).
But again? What do we know? Just some dumb website with bad spelling.
Story Update Williams
And adding to the story, a movement has begun to remove both Williams and Hillard from office – Council in Turmoil. Based upon this from the city charter:

Like we said – welcome to Port Arthur!
Corruption Out Front
Sometimes we have to just say it how it is. City Council Member Mike Williams is corrupt. Really, he is corrupt. And now ask yourself, before reading on, why we would say that?
This morning, Mike Williams came out on KFDM, calling for the resignation of Earl White, the chief of the city of Beaumont Fire Department. Did he do anything wrong? No, he has done NOTHING WRONG. In fact, White, who leads the department, stays out of city politics, stays out of county politics, and is being attacked by none other than the Beaumont Fire Union. And Williams’s attack on him this morning is motivated by a promise that he made to the fire department union that if elected, he would ensure the termination of White.
And we call that corruption. As there is ZERO, and we mean ZERO, interaction between Williams and the Fire Chief, and his political move is maybe one of the worst excuses of a city council member EVER.
Now, why would Williams do this? Well, he wants citizens to know that the overtime budget was blown. And he would be right. It is blown. Only because of piss poor planning by the City Council and the City Manager. Remember, White works for the City Manager. And seemingly, the city manager makes the budget for all departments and KNEW that the overtime budget is a problem at the Fire Department (notice that the police department and its overtime budget are out of place because of a lack of staffing). In fact, the overtime budget has been out of place for many of the city departments. But you do not hear Williams hawking about those departments.
Now, why is Williams supported by the Fire Union? Well, he made a PROMISE to the Union, who frankly we have to question at this point, to fire White because they don’t like him. In the past, the fire union has been one of the strongest political groups in unions around Texas. However, in many circles, including the Beaumont Police Union, they have overstayed their political welcome.
Here is our thought on the good council member Williams. HE NEEDS TO RESIGN FOR CORRUPTION. Making a promise before he was even elected, and then staging a political stunt in a city already suffering, is outrageous. His input is ZERO, as he has no understanding of how a fire department with EMS is operated, and while he HAWKS, we have learned that he has not gone on any ride-alongs, has not spent one quarter of a shift on an EMS Unit, and has maybe visited ONE fire station since he has been elected. His HAWKING to what he thinks he knows is at least as silly as the fire chief making the budget, and the city manager overseeing the fire chief. And his dumb ass forgets he VOTED FOR THE BUDGET?
Our thought is, if you are that pissed at the fire chief for incompatibility, then fire the damn city manager for how he operates? After all, and again, the fire chief takes his orders from the city manager? Right Councilman?
This was a novice play by a novice politico, which hurts all “so-called republicans” (remember that play councilman). Hell, Hillard is even being smart and shutting up. He, too, got the endorsement. Or maybe Williams is being used as a puppet.
Many of you ask us what is wrong with the City of Beaumont. Why is Beaumong dying? Why have the citizens lost faith in their government? This is a huge example. Corruption. Attachment to Unions and Special Interests.
Williams, you resign. Obviously, you have no idea of how government works. We believe that you are part of the corruption problems in Beaumont!
Yup, the week starts as being just ANOTHER DAY IN BEAUMONT, TEXAS.
And to you that bitch about this article? You voted him in, and now you have to live with it. And you thought the corruption would get better? Uh, no…it is just getting started!
Here is a question for the black community…does Williams hate black people? Just a thought, right? It is what the democrats do to republicans? And trust us, we are about as GOP as it comes. We just HATE CORRUPTION! And Williams looks like nothing but a Whore to the Fire Union and is getting puppeted around.
Go, GOP right?
Filing Deadline Comes To An End
If you are a Democrat, hold your breath, other than the democrats that are not worried about being one. What did we just say? Well, the fun is now over, and this week will begin to get serious as some candidates are doing some polling and learning that they have and will not be able to win.
We saw this last week when a GOP candidate dropped out (Autumn) when she learned she had NO GOP backing. Remember, Republicans eat their young, democrats don’t.
Now, will there be any surprises? There is one bench where there is some recruiting going on, which we are kind of confused about, but we really don’t care. And there are a few county offices where people like city council members want a paying job, not a half-pinted city council job. And when the Jefferson County Chairman picks his race, which will be JP1 PL2, a new Jefferson County Chairman must be picked until election time.
Hmmm, wonder who will get that job?
So that is how we start the week. Last week for filing might bring surprises, but yet, it might not, so we all hold our breath and hope that big names don’t jump in. As soon as the filing is done, we will review those who have applied with the taxpayers to run their offices. Right now, no real excitement.
